The Echocardiography and Vascular Sonographer is a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer who is qualified by professional credentialing and academic and clinical experience to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The scope of practice of the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer includes those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law for which the individual has received education and clinical experience, has demonstrated competency, and has completed the appropriate ARDMS certification, which is the standard of practice in cardiac and vascular ultrasound.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Demonstrates the cognitive skills required to perform comprehensive echocardiography and vascular sonography imaging.
2.Demonstrates the technical skills and abilities required to perform comprehensive echocardiography and vascular exams.
3.Demonstrates knowledge, understanding and technical requirements for contrast echocardiography (LVO, Doppler enhancement, MCE, shunt evaluation). Performs appropriate ultrasound and plethysmography procedures and records anatomical, pathological and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
4.Performs other duties as assigned.
•Education: Must meet the education requirement for Echocardiography Sonographer certification with either CCI or ARDMS; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
•Experience: No experience required; 2 years’ relevant experience preferred.
•License/Certification: RCS or RDCS with CCI, or RCVT with ARDMS certification within 12 months of hire. RVT or RVS credentials from ARDMS or CCI strongly preferred. American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
